Newton’s Grove School news: Our Future Home

Come Visit Our Future Home This Friday!

Dear Newton’s Grove Families,

We are very excited to announce our plans for this Friday, the last day of school. We will be taking all of our students to Paul Coffee Park for a day of sports, games, and a barbeque. And, in the late afternoon, we will be offering tours of our new facilities to parents!

Juniors, Intermediates and Seniors will depart for the park at 9:15, and Primary students will depart at 10:00. Please be certain your child is dressed in appropriate outdoor wear, including a hat and sunscreen. For a detailed description of the day’s activities, please see the accompanying schedule. At 1:30, there will be a special presentation for Mrs. Dix, and the Parents Committee will be on hand to share some promotions for next year. All students will return to school by bus by 3:00. Parents are welcome at any time throughout the day and are invited to enjoy the barbeque.

From 3:00 to 5:00, we will be offering tours of our new building to any interested parents (unfortunately, insurance regulations do not allow us to include minors). Your children will be supervised back at the school while you are on your tour. Any parent wishing to join a tour needs to contact Ms. Chachel in advance to sign up. We have a maximum tour size of fifteen per group, and we plan to run several tours. However, there is a limit to how many people we will be able to accommodate, and so bookin

gs will be made on a first-come, first served basis. When you speak to Mrs. Chachel, please indicate roughly what time you would like to begin your tour, and whether or not you require a hard hat and safety shoes. These items are mandatory and will be provided by the school if you do not own them. (Note: the school has CSA-approved steel toe-caps which fit over running or flat-soled shoes, but are not designed to go over sandals or high heels.) We think you will be delighted with what you see!

Please join us this Friday as we celebrate a truly remarkable year. We look forwards to seeing you there!

Construction Progress at our New Home- 6850 Goreway Drive

Construction is well on its way and the building is looking good.

A very exciting time for the Newton's Grove community!

There are two exciting community developments that
will have a really positive impact on the park and on our school. As you may
have heard on the news, the indoor skating and hockey arena on the corner will
be renamed “The Paul Coffey Arena” after the Hall of Fame NHL player who is
from the area. The arena will be getting a makeover and will house many new
programs including the first ever Newton’s Grove ice hockey program. Our school
band has been invited to play at the official naming ceremony that is scheduled
for this coming September. The other exciting development is the proposed new play
castle that is coming to Wildwood Park. This will be a replica of the castle in
Toronto’s High Park, as pictured below, and it will be designed and built by
television celebrity Mike Holmes.
